My name is Puffin and my practice brings together traditional art and the beauty of photography to create a unique blend of mixed-media production. My themes are heavily rooted in ideas of connection, intimacy and the fragility of life. This sense of change and nostalgia is a consistent theme in my work, evoking bittersweet feelings in my outcomes.

About the artwork

for this will pass

‘for this will pass’ is an exploration of the aesthetic Mono no Aware, in which I have focused on the bittersweet awareness that everything in life is temporary. As a response to this, I have lived my life to the fullest over the course of this project, stripping away my anxiety. This piece of work aimed to change my worldview and appreciate those small moments of mundanity that so often go unnoticed in the noise of the everyday, through using spring to complement this sense of change. I photographed each day for the last 7 weeks, through this I dictated what these moments meant to me and the emotions that they brought out through the simple question: ‘What if this was the last time?’ Looking at my routine from this perspective really allowed me to gain a deeper appreciation and sense of peace when it comes to these snapshots of change.
