Artist Biography
I have been teaching art full time in Birmingham since 1997 and still enjoy sharing my love of creativity with young artists. In my own time, I am inspired by visits to exhibitions of traditional and contemporary arts of all disciplines. I love seeing contemporary dance and watching films. I’m fascinated by the history of Birmingham’s lost cinemas. I’m a keen swimmer - it helps when my head gets stuck!

I loved going to the Electric Cinema on Station Street and was gutted when it closed. I follow the brilliant Save the Electric facebook group keenly, looking for updates and opportunities to help with their campaign. My painting is a view of the back of this beautiful red brick building from Hinckley Street. The old Tatler Theatre signage is still partially visible. I have called the painting ‘We’re Right Behind You’ as a reference to all the people who hope for a future for our beloved cinema.
