Artist Biography
Edie Herron is a mixed medium artist, currently based between Birmingham and Oxford, whose work explores the flaws and fragility of the human experience. Currently completing a Fine Art BA at Oxford Brookes University, she draws on the fleeting moments that linger long after they’ve gone – from the way the fresh air in the morning feels like salvation if you haven’t slept, to the way the cracks in the pavement echo down the road - to make sensitive and bold work in a variety of mediums, such as oil paintings, writing and 35mm photography. Edie is currently experimenting and playing as much as she can while entering her second year at university, intending to explore the world of artist books and Super 8 film.

The death of an idiot is always difficult to comprehend, as is the decomposition of a person, of the life of someone living dwindling. The analogue youth gave way to fools who dream of something better. Religion is the freedom of the 8th drink, salvation is the burn of a cigarette and our saints are the songs on the radio. Anything to distract from the guilt, from the knowledge that we are temporary echoes, that perhaps the light at the end of the tunnel is who you should have been. It's all punctured tires and a smoking, grinding engine. It’s freedom and its dwindling, and there’s roadkill in the ditches next to the tarmac, its guts spreading into the cracks in the road, in the image of safety.
