Child in Residence (2019) was a month-long messy play programme for children between the ages of 0-5.

It was a pilot project created to provide young children with space and time to explore art materials in their own experimental ways, whiles enabling them to curate their own learning environments.

Split over 4 weeks, once a week we played with a specific art material; paint, clay, glue or paper. It was through this programme where I want to extend my studio practice to early years learning environments, observing how children navigate art materials learning through them as they manipulated, investigated and inquired.

I want to thank Impact Hub Birmingham for enabling us to make a load of mess and providing the space, and Beatfreeks for funding the project through their Fuel Funding.
